Jessica Rich

Jessica Rich is the Co-Founder of the Democracy Project and an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.

She specializes in civil society, social movements, and state-building. She received her doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley and her bachelor’s degree from Carleton College. Her book manuscript, State-Driven Activism: The Politics of AIDS in Brazil (under contract with Cambridge University Press), explores the ways policymakers and activists can support each other to make political mobilization more effective. Teaching is her own mobilization campaign: to create new generations of informed, passionate, and effective global citizens.
